Thanksgiving Food Drive: this district-wide effort provides the components of a complete Thanksgiving meal to local families in need.Halloween Candy Collection, November 1-3 : share your Halloween candy with troops serving overseas through Operation Shoebox of New Jersey.Boxes will be distributed on 10/27 and should be returned to homeroom teachers by 11/3. Please encourage your child to carry their UNICEF box with them on Halloween. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF: the annual tradition of “kids helping kids†has raised funds for such necessities as vaccinations, clean water, food, housing and schools in 190 countries.Coats will be distributed to those in need through Jersey Cares. Jersey Cares Coat Drive: bring your gently-used winter coats to the Hartshorn lobby between October 16-27.Let’s use our power for good! There will be a Board of Ed Candidate forum sponsored by the Millburn Township PTO Conference at the Millburn Public Library October 24th at 7:00PM and October 30th at 11:00AM. The annual pie sale, embrace a foster child and the Thanksgiving food drive will all be starting up the first week of November so be on the look out! Please take note of the new date for Hartshorn’s Ladies Night Out Fundraiser which will be held on December 7th location TBD. Our Annual Coat Drive is underway so now is the time to clean out those closets. This program shows students the importance of being a good friend in the classroom (especially to our classmates who may struggle with learning differences), around school, and out in the community. The Caring Kids Learning Differences Program for 4th grade will be on Monday, October 23rd. We would like to thank all of the students who participated in the Hartshorn Chess Team tryout and congratulations to this years winners! We know you will make Hartshorn proud! What a great experience for our kids! Our week of Respect was amazing! The students were engaged in all different types of activities to encourage kindness, resolving conflicts and treat each other with respect. We had our first cultural arts assembly, The Earth Dome which educated the students about geography and environmental issues. Hartshorn is so grateful for you! The children have had a very busy last few weeks! They enjoyed their ice cream social and put on their best smiles for picture day! Fall Family fun night was definitely FUN and the Jumpathon was a huge success. The kids are in full swing now with school and extra curricular activities, and so are our Hartshorn parents! As we race our kids from one activity to the next, we still manage to find time to volunteer and help out our amazing school. €œAutumn…The Years last, loveliest smileâ€. ![]()
